About Us Columbia Smiles Family Dentistry is currently seeking an energetic, self-driven and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist. Position Summary Performs the usual and customary procedures of a Registered Dental Hygienist in compliance with Maryland State regulations to provide excellent clinical care and a positive patient experience. Duties/Responsibilities Patient screening procedures, such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of patient health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse Removing calculus and plaque from all surfaces of patients' teeth, polishing, as well as applying protective/preventative materials to the teeth Take and develop dental x-rays Educate patients on oral health and proper oral hygiene techniques Utilize intraoral camera Partner with doctor to pre-educate patients regarding potential treatment needs according to practice philosophy Assist in scheduling patients for upcoming and overdue appointments Assist in restocking hygiene operatories Assist with sterilization where applicable Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and other general privacy and office policies Other duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge Proficiency in clinical documentation and dental terminology Knowledge of dental anatomy and oral health conditions Familiarity with dental coding and billing practices Strong understanding of infection control protocols Experience with imaging technology (e.g., digital radiography) Ability to work well with patients of all ages Proficiency in using dental software systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Education and Experience Graduate of accredited school of Dental Hygiene Training Join our team of dedicated professionals and make a difference in the lives of our patients.
