Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to maintain optimal oral health for patients. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment. Qualifications Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review for accurate record keeping. Experience with dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with pediatric patients is a plus. Strong understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Prior experience in general dentistry or dental clinic environments is desirable; familiarity with EMR systems is advantageous.
