Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic dental team. AT LEAST ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. In this vital role, you will support dentists by performing advanced chairside procedures, assisting with complex dental treatments, and ensuring a smooth, efficient workflow within our busy practice. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your ability to handle diverse responsibilities, will contribute to delivering exceptional patient care and enhancing overall practice performance. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures, including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry treatments. Perform expanded functions such as placing and finishing fillings, temporary crowns, coronal polishing, packing cords, and applying sealants in accordance with state regulations and practice protocols. Take and develop high-quality X-ray images while adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques. Manage patient flow efficiently by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Utilize electronic medical records with Dentrix to document treatment details accurately while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, and managing patient records securely. Maintain thorough knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and medical documentation standards for accurate recordkeeping. Operate 3D scanners (INTELLISCAN AND DANDY SCANNER) and other advanced dental technology to enhance diagnostic capabilities and treatment planning. Uphold infection control standards through proper aseptic techniques and adherence to OSHA guidelines for all clinical activities. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a fast-paced dental clinic environment with exposure to general dentistry and specialized fields such as prosthodontics or pediatrics. Familiarity with DENTRIX AND DEXIS SOFTWARE for managing medical records and documentation efficiently. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging, and pediatric dentistry procedures preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology essential for accurate communication and documentation. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques while maintaining excellent patient rapport. Certification in radiography or X-ray licensing required; additional certifications in medical coding or advanced dental assisting are advantageous.
