Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained. Assist dentists during procedures such as X-ray imaging, dental restorations, and prosthodontic work using chairside assisting techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records accurately within Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric cases to ensure comprehensive care. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for insurance claims. Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, managing supplies, and practicing proper aseptic techniques in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Assist with medical imaging procedures and document all treatments meticulously in medical records for continuity of care. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team to deliver four-handed dentistryâworking efficiently alongside dentists to improve patient comfort and procedure flow. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, though not required. We can train on the job. Familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology enhances communication within the team. Hands-on experience with X-ray technology, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools is desirable. Understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes ensures safe patient care environments. Background in pediatric dentistry or pediatrics-related dental assistance is advantageous for working with young patients effectively. Certification in dental assisting or related fields demonstrates commitment to professional development; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance and infection prevention is encouraged.
