Job Summary Join our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and streamline clinical operations. In this vital role, you will perform advanced chairside assisting, including placing restorations, taking and processing dental X-rays, and supporting complex procedures across general dentistry and specialty areas such as prosthodontics and endodontics. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency. Take high-quality dental X-rays and medical imaging, accurately documenting findings in electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are rigorously followed. Manage patient vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive care, especially for pediatric dentistry and medically complex patients. Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and ensuring smooth patient flow within the clinic. Operate advanced equipment like 3D scanners and assist with medical coding for insurance claims while maintaining HIPAA privacy standards. Maintain accurate dental terminology and anatomy knowledge to facilitate effective communication among team members and with patients. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is required, with a strong background in general dentistry or specialty areas such as prosthodontics or pediatrics preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential for managing patient records efficiently. Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and dental assisting procedures is necessary to ensure safety and compliance. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care. Experience with pediatric dentistry or working with diverse patient populations is a plus for this energetic role that values adaptability and teamwork.
