Duties Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques and infection control protocols are strictly followed. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and image quality for diagnosis. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, and other dental software to document patient information accurately and securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical documentation. Support four-handed dentistry by working efficiently alongside the dentist to improve patient comfort and reduce procedure times. Educate patients on oral health care practices using clear dental terminology tailored to pediatric patients when needed. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines. Assist with medical coding for billing purposes and ensure accurate documentation of procedures for insurance claims. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent certification required. Proven experience in dental assisting within general dentistry or specialized fields such as prosthodontics or endodontics; pediatric dentistry experience is a plus. Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, or similar platforms for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices safely and effectively. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism and compassion. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail during chairside assisting tasks.
