Job Title: EFDA Dental Assistant (Part-Time) - Ortho Training Provided Location: Land O' Lakes, FL 34639 Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour (Based on experience) Hours: Part-Time (18–24 hours per week) | No Weekends! PLEASE NOTE: An active Florida EFDA Certification is REQUIRED to apply for this position. The Opportunity: Are you an energetic, detail-oriented EFDA-certified assistant looking to build a career in orthodontics? Thomas Orthodontics is a modern, patient-centered private practice looking for the perfect hybrid team member. In this cross-trained role, you will manage our sterilization lab while simultaneously receiving hands-on clinical training to transition your general dental skills into top-tier Orthodontic Assisting. You will learn the specialized art of orthodontics under the direct mentorship of our doctor and a 5-year veteran lead assistant. What You Will Do: Keep Us Safe & Flowing: Manage the sterilization lab, processing instruments in strict accordance with OSHA and CDC guidelines, and run biological spore testing for our autoclaves. Master New Tech: Learn to capture high-quality diagnostic records, including extraoral/intraoral photos and cutting-edge iTero digital 3D scans (we will train you on ortho-specific tech!). Hands-On Patient Care: Provide chairside support (suctioning, instrument transfer) during active orthodontic bonding and wire adjustments. What We Are Looking For: Certifications (Required): You MUST have an active Florida EFDA and Dental Radiographer certification. Experience: General dental assisting experience is required; we will provide the training specifically for Orthodontics. Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is highly preferred. Professionalism: We are a low-stress, punctual office.
