Job Summary Overview The Community Health Center of Richmond, Inc. In this role, you will support dentists by preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and ensuring patient comfort. Your expertise in dental assisting and infection control will help create a good environment for patients of all ages. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-paced, patient-centered setting dedicated to improving oral health. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use. Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology like 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to infection control and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, including updating medical history and documenting procedures. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and comfort. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation to ensure patient safety during treatments. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical records, and ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with medical record documentation. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding relevant to dental care. Experience supporting pediatric dentistry is highly desirable along with skills in chairside assisting for complex procedures such as endodontics or prosthodontics. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with team members including dental receptionists.
