Responsibilities Perform thorough dental prophylaxis, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental records to ensure safe and effective care. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret digital medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive measures, and treatment plans tailored to pediatric and general dentistry needs. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities, medical records, and treatment notes in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with WV Board of Dentistry requirements. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques . Experience working with pediatric patients and in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or SoftDent for documentation review and record keeping. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively and communicate clearly. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in all aspects of dental hygiene practice.
