Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist dentists during procedures such as examinations, restorations, and other dental treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring adherence to infection control protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies. Monitor and record vital signs, medical history updates, and other relevant data to support comprehensive patient care. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Open Dental for documentation review and record keeping. Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable, along with familiarity in pediatric patient care. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient safety and comfort. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and basic medical coding is a plus.
