Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options Assist with chairside procedures such as applying sealants, fluoride treatments, and taking dental radiographs (medical imaging) Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix Follow infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations Collaborate with dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring all medical coding and records are complete and up-to-date Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing reassurance and support as needed Experience Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology Experience using EMR systems such as open dental or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping Background in dental assisting or chairside assisting is advantageous, especially within pediatric or family practices Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection control and aseptic technique Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about oral health practices Join us to make a difference in our patientsâ smiles!
