Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Open Dental efficiently for accurate documentation of patient histories, treatment plans, and medical coding. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Maintain infection control standards by following strict aseptic techniques and proper sterilization protocols. Support administrative tasks such as answering the dental receptionist phone lines, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or Oral surgery dentistry environments. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, medical documentation, and understanding dental terminology. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Open dental or Dentrix is essential but not required. Knowledge of infection control protocols, anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry, and aseptic technique are required to ensure safe practice standards. Experience with medical imaging tools like 3D scanners or X-ray machines enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical coding practices, oral surgery considerations will help you excel in this role.
