Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Wilmette, IL

Job Summary Boutique general and implant dental practice seeking part-time or full-time Dental Assistant 2 or more days per week to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, assist in restorative and surgical treatments, and assist in maintaining a clean and efficient clinical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and adherence to all safety and privacy regulations. The dental assistant will collaborate directly with our owner/dentist to ensure the highest standard of care for our patients. Duties Chairside Assistance: Working closely with dentists during procedures by passing instruments, operating suction devices, and mixing dental materials. Patient Care: Greeting patients, taking medical histories and vital signs (e.g., blood pressure), and helping to calm anxious individuals before their treatments. Preparation & Sterilization: Setting up operatories with the necessary equipment and strictly following safety and OSHA guidelines to sterilize and disinfect instruments. Radiography & Lab Work: Taking and developing dental X-rays (radiographs), as well as preparing materials for impressions or temporary crowns. [1, 2] Administrative Tasks: Managing patient records, scheduling appointments, Qualifications Proficiency in dental software such as Dentrix Ascend preferred Experience in pediatric dentistry, general dentistry, or dental clinic settings is highly desirable Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and HIPAA regulations Strong skills in patient care, patient assessment, chairside assisting, and medical records management Ability to work effectively within a team Excellent communication skills to educate patients about oral health practices Prior experience with EMR systems and medical coding is advantageous Commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and aseptic technique This position offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment dedicated to providing outstanding patient care while supporting your career growth within the dental field.
