Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms for pediatric patients by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is ready for procedures. Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental treatments, including exams, cleanings, X-rays, and restorative procedures, using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort levels before, during, and after treatments to ensure a safe experience. Maintain accurate medical documentation and update electronic health records (EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix) with detailed notes on procedures performed and patient information. Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions using age-appropriate communication. Follow infection control protocols meticulously to maintain an aseptic environment, including sterilization of instruments and proper disposal of biohazard materials. Skills Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR systems), including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient data efficiently. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and techniques to support specialized care for children. Experience with dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and standard X-ray machines, ensuring high-quality images while maintaining safety standards. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to pediatric oral structures, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry practices that enhance workflow speed and patient comfort. Familiarity with infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating appointments and explaining procedures to young patients and their families. Basic knowledge of medical coding and documentation requirements related to pediatric medical records for accurate billing and compliance purposes. Join us in creating bright smiles!
