Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and the importance of maintaining healthy habits. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Review and update medical records accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) in Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing excellent patient care and addressing any concerns promptly. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably general dentistry practices. Proficiency in dental terminology, dental coding, and documentation review for accurate record keeping. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental assisting procedures. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient safety and comfort.
