Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols. Take dental radiographs (X-ray images), utilizing advanced equipment and medical imaging tools to support accurate diagnoses. Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security. Support patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly using appropriate dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Maintain a sterile environment through aseptic techniques and infection control practices, including proper sterilization of instruments and adherence to OSHA standards. Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and assist with billing or coding processes related to medical records. Provide chairside assistance during procedures with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency and patient comfort. Qualifications Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with pediatric dentistry and general dentistry practices. Proficiency in dental assisting skills such as taking X-rays, performing intraoral exams, and supporting various specialties like prosthodontics or endodontics. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques to ensure safe practice standards. Familiarity with Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation accurately. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, providing clear instructions and reassurance throughout treatment. Certification in X-ray technology or radiography is required; additional certifications in medical coding or pediatrics are advantageous.
