Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support orthodontists in delivering exceptional patient care by providing chairside assistance, managing patient records, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. Duties Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards are met Take dental X-rays, including panoramic and cephalometric images, utilizing medical imaging equipment and adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical documentation Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry patients Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist in assessing patient comfort levels during procedures Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the front desk and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards Requirements Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with a focus on orthodontics Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental terminology, infection control, and aseptic technique Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with attention to safety protocols Familiarity with medical coding related to dental procedures for accurate record-keeping Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry and orthodontics Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members like dental receptionists and other specialists in prosthodontics or endodontics Certification in radiography or X-ray technology Travel is required, as we have 6 locations:Westminster, Hampstead, Taneytown, Eldersburg, Mt.
