Responsibilities Assist orthodontist during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and care Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy Manage patient records efficiently using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans and progress Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry cases Monitor vital signs and medical history updates to ensure patient safety during procedures Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and assisting the dental receptionist with medical documentation and records management Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting with a focus on orthodontics or pediatric dentistry is highly preferred Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to orthodontics, and infection control standards is essential Familiarity with medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures and 3D scanning technology Strong understanding of dental assisting principles including chairside assisting, aseptic technique, and infection prevention practices Experience supporting four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism and compassion Join us in creating healthier smiles!
