Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations for healthy teeth. Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments with precision and professionalism. Manage electronic health records (EHR) to document patient histories, treatment plans, and clinical notes accurately. Monitor patient vital signs as needed and report any changes or concerns regarding their oral or overall health. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, sterilization procedures, and safety standards to maintain a safe clinical environment. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state or regional regulations. Proven experience in dental hygiene practice, with a strong emphasis on patient service and education. Knowledge of dental procedures, instrumentation, and radiography techniques. Excellent communication skills to effectively explain treatment options and oral health strategies to diverse patients. Ability to handle manual tasks such as instrument handling, patient positioning, and chairside assistance confidently. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management systems for accurate medical documentation. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple patients efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Additional skills such as basic life support (BLS), CPR certification, blood sampling experience, and familiarity with diagnostic radiology are highly desirable.
