Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to inform treatment plans. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic technique and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold healthcare standards. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures. Proven experience in general dentistry settings Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding for documentation accuracy. Proficiency in dental x-ray techniques and operation of dental imaging equipment. Excellent patient communication skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations effectively. Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA regulations.
