Job Overview Peikidis Orthodontics is excited to offer a Volunteer Orthodontic Internship! This is a hands-on, unpaid volunteer position designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in dentistry or healthcare, and are looking to gain meaningful experience in an orthodontic practice. This opportunity is ideal for pre-dental, pre-health, pre-med, or anyone interested in exploring the field of dentistry. Volunteers will work alongside the orthodontist and our clinical team while learning the day-to-day responsibilities of an orthodontic practice. Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to: - Observe orthodontic procedures and patient appointments - Assist with instrument sterilization - Prepare and clean treatment rooms before and after patient appointments - Learn proper operatory setup and breakdown - Become familiar with orthodontic instruments, appliances, and materials - Observe digital scanning and X-rays - Observe patient communication and chairside assisting techniques - Learn professional standards, teamwork, and patient care in a healthcare setting The Ideal Candidate This opportunity of perfect for pre-dental students, pre-health students, or any individual who is interested in learning about dentistry. No previous dental experience is required. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, is dependable and excited to become a part of our team. We are looking for someone interested in a long-term volunteer opportunity rather than a one-time shadowing experience. Office Hours: - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday; 9:30am-6:30pm - One Saturday a month; 8am-2pm (September-June) Volunteers are not expected to be available for all office hours. We understand that students have class schedules and other commitments. A consistent volunteer schedule will be established based on your availability and the needs of the practice.
