Position Summary The Dental Hygiene Assistant supports the hygiene department by assisting the hygienist during patient care, coordinating hygiene schedules, presenting treatment recommendations, and providing exceptional customer service. This role bridges clinical care and patient communication while ensuring an efficient and productive hygiene schedule. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Prepare treatment rooms and operatories for hygiene appointments. Assist the hygienist during periodontal therapy and other hygiene procedures as needed. Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards. Take digital radiographs and intraoral photographs. Record clinical notes and update patient records. Maintain inventory of hygiene supplies and equipment. Educate patients on oral hygiene instructions and post-treatment care. Confirm hygiene appointments and manage the hygiene schedule to minimize cancellations and no-shows. Contact overdue patients and assist with hygiene reactivation efforts. Verify patient information and assist with insurance verification when needed. Coordinate patient flow between the front and back office. Work closely with the clinical and administrative teams to ensure efficient daily operations. Qualifications Previous dental assisting and/or dental front office experience preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
