Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including cleanings, fillings, crowns, and orthodontic treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Provide patient care by taking x-rays, recording medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure patient comfort. Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments, updating records in dental management software such as Dentrix or Epic, and handling patient inquiries with professionalism. Support administrative tasks like verifying insurance information, processing payments, and maintaining accurate dental records. Assist with specialized treatments in orthodontics or pediatrics as needed, ensuring all protocols are followed precisely. Maintain a clean and organized work environment by adhering to infection control standards and sterilization procedures. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with a strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry. Experience working with dental management software such as Dentrix or Epic to schedule appointments and manage patient records effectively. Knowledge of orthodontic procedures and materials, including CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tools used for appliance fabrication or adjustments. Ability to communicate clearly with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatric dentistry settings. Familiarity with dental receptionist duties including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and front desk coordination. Understanding of infection control protocols and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment. Experience supporting orthodontic or pediatric dental care is a plus but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
