Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. In this role, you will support dentists during various procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities Assist dentists during clinical procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and the treatment area using aseptic techniques. Take dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards. Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance during general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures. Perform vital signs assessments and assist with medical documentation for pediatric and adult patients. Support administrative duties including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and maintaining medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards. Operate advanced dental technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment to aid diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain infection control standards by following proper sterilization procedures and managing aseptic technique protocols. Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient four-handed dentistry practices that enhance patient comfort and reduce procedure time. Qualifications Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for medical documentation and record management. Certification in X-ray certification required; additional certifications in infection control or pediatric dentistry are advantageous. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently across various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
