Chairside Assisting: Handing instruments, managing oral suction, and keeping a clear field of view during procedures like fillings and crowns.

Patient Preparation: Greeting patients, recording vital signs and medical histories, and ensuring individual comfort.

Sterilization and Safety: Disinfecting operatories and sterilizing dental tools following OSHA and ADA guidelines.

Radiography & Lab Tasks: Taking digital X-rays and pouring or trimming dental impressions as directed by the dentist.

Administrative Duties: Scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and handling basic billing or inventory tasks.

Core Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; graduation from an accredited dental assisting program is preferred or required depending on the state.

Certifications: State-specific licenses or registrations (such as coronal polish or radiation safety/X-ray certification) and active CPR/BLS certification.

Soft Skills: Strong communication, empathy for anxious patients, and acute attention to safety detail.

Hard Skills: Proficiency with Dentrix, digital imaging equipment, and four-handed dentistry techniques.
