Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Dental Assistant / Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) who is reliable, energetic, and patient-focused. This position combines hands-on chairside assisting with leadership responsibilities that help the clinical team remain prepared, efficient, and consistent. The ideal candidate can lead by example, communicate effectively with the doctor and team, and maintain high standards for patient care, clinical organization, and compliance. Clinical Responsibilities Provide chairside assistance during general, restorative, cosmetic, surgical, and other dental procedures. Take high-quality digital radiographs and complete diagnostic assessments, including intraoral photographs and 3D scans. Take accurate impressions, digital scans, and bite registrations. Fabricate and adjust provisional restorations within the scope of Florida EFDA certification. Perform permitted expanded functions based on active certification, including coronal polishing and other authorized duties. Set up and break down operatories and ensure rooms are fully prepared before each patient. Maintain accurate charting, clinical notes, treatment documentation, and other records in Eaglesoft. Educate patients regarding procedures, postoperative instructions, home care, and recommended treatment. Support smooth patient flow, schedule efficiency, and a positive patient experience. Lead Responsibilities Coordinate the daily workflow of the dental assisting team and help assign clinical responsibilities based on the schedule. Lead morning clinical preparation and confirm that rooms, materials, lab cases, and required equipment are ready for the day. Train, coach, and support dental assistants on clinical protocols, Eaglesoft documentation, patient communication, and office expectations. Monitor sterilization procedures, infection-control standards, OSHA requirements, and clinical safety practices. Oversee clinical supply inventory, maintain appropriate stock levels, prepare supply orders, and help control waste and expired materials. Track incoming and outgoing laboratory cases and confirm that cases are available before scheduled appointments. Help maintain dental equipment and coordinate timely reporting of maintenance or repair needs. Communicate schedule concerns, clinical bottlenecks, supply issues, and team needs to the doctor and Office Manager. Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and consistent clinical standards throughout the assisting department. Provide coverage and assist wherever needed to support the doctor, patients, and overall practice operations. Qualifications Minimum 3-4 years of dental assisting experience Previous lead, senior or clinical coordination experience preferred. Active Florida EFDA certification and radiology certification. Excelent communication and customer service skills, must be a genuine âpeopleâ person (REQUIRED) Experience with Eaglesoft dental software preferred Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn Compensation & Benefits $22- $28 per hour, based on experience, leadership ability, certificcations and clinical skills.
