Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Possibly take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Conduct initial patient assessments by reviewing medical histories to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health. Assist dentists during procedures using to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems) such as OrthoPMS, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and medical records. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations, aseptic techniques, and sterilization protocols for dental equipment. May need to submit insurance. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with proficiency in dental assisting and chairside support. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health. Familiarity with dental equipment, X-ray machines, and medical imaging techniques. Experience with EHR systems such as OrthoPMS for documentation review and management. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care and hygiene practices. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
