Front Desk & Chairside Support Coordinator â Dental Office | Shreveport, LA - Saminity - Shreveport, LA
Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Shreveport, LA

A well-established, high-volume family dental practice in Shreveport, LA is looking for a bubbly, hardworking Front Desk and Chairside Support Coordinator to join the team. This hybrid role suits someone who enjoys variety. The person in this role will run the front desk and also cross-train to assist the dental assistant team in the back when the schedule calls for it. Dental assisting experience or willingness to cross-train chairside is a plus. A DAY IN THE LIFE You arrive a few minutes before opening, coffee in hand, and pull up the day's schedule, a full board across the operatories. The first patient walks in right at 8, and you greet them by name, pull up their chart in Dentrix, and get them checked in while chatting about their weekend. Between patients, you are verifying insurance for tomorrow's appointments and confirming next week's visits by phone and text. When the schedule gets tight or one of the two dental assistants needs an extra hand, you step into the back to help set up a room, sterilize instruments, or support chairside, then head right back up front for check-out, collecting payment and making sure the patient leaves with their next appointment on the books. No two days look exactly the same, and the variety is part of what makes this role a great fit for someone who likes staying busy and being useful wherever needed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Check-In & Check-Out Greet every patient warmly at check-in and set a positive tone for their visit. Enter and update patient information accurately in Dentrix. Manage patient check-out, including collecting and applying payment. Scheduling & Confirmations Coordinate and manage the doctor's daily schedule to keep patient flow on track. Book, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments in a timely, organized manner. Send appointment reminders and confirmations to reduce no-shows and late cancellations. Insurance & Patient Records Verify dental insurance benefits and eligibility ahead of scheduled appointments. Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date digital patient charts. Support the clinical assistant team in preparing and sending insurance narratives to support timely claims processing. Financial Coordination & Patient Communication Schedule and coordinate next steps for treatment plans built and presented by the dental assistant team. Present and explain payment options and financial arrangements clearly and compassionately, leading with what matters to the patient. Serve as a friendly, informed resource for patient questions about scheduling, insurance, and payment. Front Office Support Answer and manage incoming phone calls with professionalism and warmth. Support day-to-day front office operations across the practice's operatories as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office and reception area. Chairside & Clinical Support Cross-train to assist the dental assistant team in the back as needed, including room setup, instrument sterilization, and basic chairside support. Follow infection control and sterilization protocols when supporting clinical operatories. Move fluidly between front desk and back office duties as the daily schedule requires. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Little to no prior dental front desk experience welcome. Entry-level candidates are welcome. Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, administrative support, or a similar patient or customer-facing role is a plus. Familiarity with Dentrix is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided. Prior dental assisting experience, or genuine willingness to cross-train and assist chairside, is a plus. Comfortable working in a clinical environment, including infection control and sterilization protocols. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent phone etiquette. Comfortable learning new software systems, including digital charting and insurance verification tools. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES Bubbly, upbeat, and genuinely enjoys working with people. Hardworking and dependable, with a strong sense of ownership over daily tasks. Organized with sharp attention to detail, especially with patient information and payments. Comfortable with structure and established procedures, and consistent in following them the same way each time. Calm and even-tempered, especially on busy days or when plans shift unexpectedly. Communicates directly and respectfully, raising questions or concerns early rather than letting them build up. A true team player who is willing to wear more than one hat, moving between front and back office as needed. SCHEDULE Full-time: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
