Experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) Job Type: Full-time Experienced Dental Assistant â Join Our Growing Team We are looking for an experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) who is confident in their clinical skills, enjoys working closely with patients, and knows how to help keep a busy dental practice running smoothly. What You'll Do Assist the doctor during a variety of dental procedures while maintaining an efficient clinical flow Perform expanded functions within the scope of your training, certification, and applicable state regulations Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment before procedures Take high-quality digital radiographs and intraoral images Take impressions and/or digital scans as needed Assist with restorative procedures, crowns, bridges, and other general dentistry procedures Fabricate and/or assist with temporary restorations as permitted Provide patients with clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions Review treatment and home-care instructions with patients in a friendly, easy-to-understand manner Maintain proper sterilization, infection control, and OSHA standards Turn over treatment rooms efficiently and ensure rooms remain fully stocked Accurately document clinical information in patient records Help monitor clinical supplies and communicate inventory needs Communicate effectively with doctors, hygienists, front-office team members, and fellow assistants Help keep the clinical schedule moving efficiently while never sacrificing the quality of patient care Build trust with patients and help them feel comfortable throughout their visit What We're Looking For Previous dental assisting experience required Expanded Function Dental Assistant training/certification as applicable Strong chairside assisting skills and knowledge of general dental procedures Experience with digital X-rays and dental technology Excellent understanding of sterilization and infection-control procedures Ability to anticipate the doctor's needs and stay prepared throughout procedures Strong organizational and time-management skills Comfortable working in a productive, fast-paced dental environment Excellent communication and patient-care skills Dependable, professional, and punctual Positive attitude and willingness to support the entire team Someone who takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done A genuine desire to provide patients with an outstanding dental experience The Person Who Will Thrive Here You may be a great fit if you're the type of dental assistant who likes to stay one step ahead.
