Key Responsibilities Clinical Support & Chairside Assisting Chairside Assisting: Assist the dentist in four-handed dentistry during a wide variety of clinical procedures (restorative, endodontic, surgical, and preventative). Extended Functions (DA II Specific): Perform allowable expanded functions under direct supervision, such as taking digital scans/dental impressions, applying topical fluoride, placing/removing matrix bands and wedges, and placing rubber dams . Coronal Polishing & Fluoride: Perform coronal polishing and apply topical fluoride treatments as directed by the dentist. Temporary Restorations: Fabricate, place, and adjust temporary crowns and bridges; place temporary fillings. Sutures & Dressings: Remove periodontal dressings and sutures as instructed by the treating dentist. Diagnostic & Patient Preparation Dental Radiography: Take high-quality digital diagnostic X-rays (bitewings, periapicals, panoramic, and CBCT scans) following strict radiation safety protocols. Patient Setup & Prep: Greet and seat patients promptly; review medical/dental history, record vital signs, and update health records in the practice management software (e.g., Eaglesoft). Treatment Room Prep: Prepare, adjust, and breakdown treatment rooms with required instruments, materials, and equipment prior to and after patient care. Infection Control & Instrument Management Sterilization & Sanitation: Clean, sanitize, and sterilize instruments and clinical areas in strict compliance with OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines. Lab Maintenance: Maintain sterilization equipment, conduct routine biological monitoring (spore testing), and keep detailed maintenance logs. Inventory Control: Monitor clinical inventory levels, track expiration dates, and assist in reordering clinical supplies as needed. Patient Education & Communication Post-Operative Instructions: Provide clear post-treatment and home-care instructions to patients and answer questions regarding clinical procedures. Treatment Planning Support: Reinforce the dentist’s treatment recommendations and educate patients on optimal oral hygiene habits. Patient Comfort: Ensure a compassionate, calm, and welcoming environment to alleviate patient anxiety before and during procedures. Certifications: -DAII--Coronal Polishing Certification/Radiograph Certification -CPR/BLS certified--or willing to get certified (class fees will be compensated) Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
