Job Title: Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) – Dental Desensitization Specialist Location: San Gabriel Valley, CA (In-Person at Mock Dental Clinic) Job Type: Part-Time (12–15 hours/week) About the Role Join a state-of-the-art collaboration between the dental and behavioral health fields! We are seeking an empathetic, forward-thinking Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to lead dental desensitization sessions for patients experiencing significant dental/medical anxiety, trauma, and avoidance behaviors. Working in a specialized mock dental clinic alongside a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), you will guide patients through structured desensitization protocols. Please note: This role involves NO actual dental cleanings or clinical treatments. You will strictly mock the task steps of dental procedures in a stress-free environment to help patients build tolerance, learn self-advocacy skills, and counter-condition previous traumatic experiences. Key Responsibilities Execute Mock Task Analyses: Lead step-by-step mock dental procedures (e.g., simulating mouth opening, suction, air/water syringe, x-ray sensors, and polishing) tailored to each patient’s desensitization plan. Conduct 1-on-1 Sessions: Facilitate 30-minute weekly sessions with patients in our mock clinic environment. Teach Patient Self-Advocacy: Help patients learn and practice functional communication, such as advocating for a break during procedures. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a BCBA to implement evidence-based behavioral strategies, track progress, and adjust desensitization hierarchies.
