Dental Assistant - West Richmond Family Dentistry - Richmond, VA
Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Richmond, VA

Weâre looking for a Dental Assistant who is really good with people. Yes, you need to know your way around a dental operatory. Yes, you need to be comfortable with instruments, X-rays, sterilization, charting, and assisting the doctor. But honestly? We can teach and strengthen skills. We can't teach someone to genuinely care about people. We're looking for someone who is kind, personable, upbeat, dependable, and maybe a little funny . Someone who can make a nervous patient feel like they're in good hands. Someone who notices when the team needs help without being asked. Someone who can work hard, laugh with their coworkers, and still take excellent care of the details. What you'll do You'll be the doctor's right hand and an important part of the patient's experience. Your day will include things like: Welcoming and preparing patients for their appointments Helping anxious or nervous patients feel comfortable and cared for Assisting the doctor during restorative and cosmetic procedures Taking digital X-rays and other necessary records Charting accurately and making sure important conversations don't get lost Preparing rooms, instruments, and materials so the doctor can work efficiently Sterilizing instruments and keeping our clinical areas clean, organized, and ready Helping with lab cases and communicating with dental labs when needed Providing patients with helpful information about their oral health and home care Making sure patients understand their treatment and what comes next Communicating with our front office team so scheduling and financial conversations don't fall through the cracks Helping with post-op calls, referrals, and follow-up when needed Keeping an eye on clinical supplies and making sure we're prepared for the day Jumping in to help wherever the team needs you And when things get busy â because they will â you'll be the person who stays calm, looks around, and says, "What can I do?" The kind of person we're hoping to find You might be a great fit if: You're warm. You genuinely like people and can make a patient feel welcome without it feeling forced. You're a people person. You can have a real conversation with a patient, pick up on their concerns, and make them feel heard. You have a sense of humor. We work hard, but we don't believe every minute of the day needs to be serious. We like to laugh. A lot. You're a team player. You don't think, "That's not my job." You think, "How can I help?" You're organized. You notice the little things. Rooms are stocked. Instruments are where they're supposed to be. Charts are accurate. The next person isn't left scrambling because something wasn't done. You're calm under pressure. When we're running behind or something unexpected happens, you don't add to the chaos. You help solve it. You're confident enough to speak up. If you notice something that could be better, safer, or more efficient, we want you to tell us. You're willing to keep learning. You don't have to know everything on day one. We value curiosity, initiative, and a desire to continually improve. The clinical stuff matters, too. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with â or willing to learn â the clinical responsibilities of the role, including: Dental assisting and expanded duties as applicable Digital radiographs Instrumentation and four-handed dentistry Operatory setup and turnover Instrument sterilization and infection control Accurate clinical charting Dental materials and equipment Lab case coordination Practice management and scheduling systems Experience is important, but personality and character matter just as much to us. What matters most here Our number-one responsibility is taking care of our patients and each other. We want patients to leave feeling that they were listened to, cared for, and treated like a person â not just an appointment on the schedule. And we want our team members to feel the same way. We believe in continuous learning, mutual support, accountability, and having each other's backs. We believe quality care is the best marketing. We believe a positive attitude is contagious. And we believe you can have high standards without taking yourself too seriously. If this sounds like you... If you're the kind of person who can walk into a room, make someone feel comfortable, anticipate what the doctor needs, keep things moving, and make your coworkers laugh along the way, we'd love to meet you. You don't have to be perfect. You do have to care. Come be part of a team that takes dentistry seriously â but doesn't take ourselves too seriously. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour Work Location: In person
