Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and maintaining a clear field during procedures. Maintain patient comfort by monitoring vital signs and applying aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and accurately coding procedures for medical records. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in/out processes. Requirements Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or prosthodontics. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Curve or Dentrix is essential for managing patient records efficiently, training will be provided . Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is required to ensure safe and effective care. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic enhances your ability to handle medical documentation accurately. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety protocols; certification in X-ray technology is advantageous. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team membersâincluding dental receptionistsâand provide compassionate patient care. A proactive attitude with the flexibility to support various roles within the clinicâsuch as assisting with pediatrics or specialized proceduresâensures a versatile contribution to our team.
