Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Chicago, IL

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental practice. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Assist the dentist during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort. Handle patient check-in and check-out processes, including updating medical records and collecting payments through medical billing systems like Meditech or Athenahealth. Maintain accurate documentation review of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and managing health information securely. Perform clerical tasks including filing, data entry with 10-key typing, and maintaining organized medical records. Support medical administrative functions such as intake procedures, care plan documentation, and follow-up communications. Experience Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred, with familiarity in dental terminology and medical coding practices. Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Meditech, or Athenahealth is essential. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software are required. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems and provide patient service with professionalism. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Experience in medical billing, insurance verification, and office management enhances your candidacy. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and medical documentation review processes is necessary for success in this role.
