Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating oral conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs. Manage electronic medical records using dental-specific software, Softdent, while ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Collaborate with dental receptionists and other team members to coordinate appointments and streamline patient flow. Stay current with dental terminology, dental coding standards, and emerging best practices to provide accurate documentation and support quality care. Requirements Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proficiency with EMR system Sofdent for managing patient records efficiently preferred but will train. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and dental documentation standards. Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement and medical history review. Familiarity with dental procedures and dental coding practices related to dental care. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
