Dental Assistant / Hygiene Assistant

Fountains Dental Care is looking for an experienced, dependable, and patient-focused Dental Assistant / Hygiene Assistant to join our team the end of September. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a general dentistry practice, be comfortable assisting the doctor chairside, and be willing to support our hygiene department as needed.

We are looking for someone who is a team player, professional, organized, compassionate with patients, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced dental office.

Position Responsibilities

General Dental Assisting

• Assist the dentist during restorative, crown, bridge, extraction, implant, and other general dentistry procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms and set up instruments and materials for procedures.
• Take dental X-rays as permitted by state regulations.
• Assist with impressions, digital scans, temporary restorations, cementation, and other clinical procedures.
• Maintain proper infection control and sterilization procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, and prepare operatories between patients.
• Maintain dental instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Anticipate the dentist's needs during procedures and provide efficient four-handed dentistry.
• Provide patients with post-operative instructions and answer routine treatment-related questions.
• Document clinical information accurately in the patient's chart.
• Help maintain an organized and clean clinical environment.
• Assist with laboratory cases, including sending and receiving cases and maintaining proper documentation

Hygiene Assistant Duties

• Assist the dental hygienist with patient care and room turnover.
• Prepare hygiene operatories before and between patients.
• Take necessary X-rays and intraoral images as directed.
• Assist with periodontal charting and other clinical documentation as needed.
• Help prepare instruments and supplies for hygiene procedures.
• Maintain sterilization and infection-control standards for the hygiene department.
• Assist with operatory breakdown and setup.
• Help keep hygiene rooms stocked, clean, and organized.
• Assist the hygienist with patient flow to keep appointments running efficiently.
• Provide excellent patient service and help patients feel comfortable and welcomed.
• Assist with perio maintenance, new-patient appointments, and other hygiene-related duties within the scope of applicable state regulations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a general dentistry practice required.
• Experience assisting both the dentist and dental hygienist preferred.
• Knowledge of general dentistry procedures and terminology.
• Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures.
• Dental radiology certification/permit as required by state law.
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required according to applicable regulations.
• Dentrix experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a team.
• Professional, dependable, punctual, and positive attitude.
• Must be comfortable working in both the doctor and hygiene areas of the practice.
