Position Overview My Dentist For Life is seeking an experienced, organized, and dependable Lead Dental Assistant to oversee the daily operations of our clinical back office. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can balance management responsibilities with clinical assisting, laboratory work, and digital dentistry. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the back office, supervise and train the dental assisting team, manage supplies and the clinical budget, coordinate laboratory needs, utilize 3D printing technology , and assist doctors with exams and treatment as needed. Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the dental back office Supervise, train, and support all dental assistants Assist doctors with production appointments, procedures, and patient exams as needed Ensure operatories are properly stocked, organized, and prepared Manage ordering and inventory of all dental and clinical supplies Manage the back-office budget and control supply and laboratory expenses Coordinate and track dental laboratory cases from submission through completion Communicate with dental laboratories regarding cases, deadlines, corrections, and special instructions Operate and manage the office's 3D printing workflow , including preparing, printing, processing, and organizing dental models, surgical guides, temporaries, or other applicable dental appliances Maintain and troubleshoot 3D printers and related equipment and supplies Work with digital scans, CBCT data, intraoral scans, and digital files as needed for laboratory and 3D printing workflows Ensure digital files and laboratory cases are properly organized and accessible Train assistants on clinical systems, equipment, workflows, and office protocols Hold assistants accountable for maintaining clinical standards and completing assigned responsibilities Help onboard and train new clinical team members Maintain proper sterilization, infection-control, and OSHA standards Monitor clinical equipment and coordinate maintenance or repairs when necessary Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve back-office productivity Coordinate with doctors and the front office to ensure smooth patient flow Prepare the back office for upcoming procedures and the following day's schedule Step in wherever needed to support the clinical team and keep the practice running efficiently What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: An experienced dental assistant ready to take on a leadership role Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable supervising and training others Experienced or highly interested in digital dentistry and 3D printing A strong communicator and problem-solver Comfortable managing inventory, ordering, and expenses Comfortable working directly with doctors Able to multitask in a fast-paced dental environment Dependable, professional, and accountable Proactive and willing to take ownership Comfortable remaining hands-on clinically while managing the back office Qualifications Required: Previous dental assisting experience Strong knowledge of dental procedures and terminology Leadership or team-training experience Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to manage inventory and ordering Strong attention to detail Preferred: Lead Dental Assistant or Back Office Manager experience Dental laboratory experience Experience with 3D printing Experience with digital impressions/scanning Experience with crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, surgical guides, or comprehensive cases Experience with CBCT and digital dentistry The Ideal Candidate This position is perfect for a dental assistant who has outgrown a traditional assisting role and is ready to take ownership of the entire back-office operation. We are looking for someone who can lead the team, manage the budget and inventory, coordinate laboratories, oversee 3D printing and digital workflows, support the doctors clinically, and ensure the back office operates at a high level every day.
