Position Summary The Periodontal Surgical Assistant will work chairside with the periodontist during surgical and non-surgical procedures, providing support to ensure efficient, safe, and comfortable patient care. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a clinical environment, pays strong attention to detail, and enjoys helping patients feel at ease. Key Responsibilities Assist the periodontist during periodontal and implant surgeries, including surgical setups and breakdowns. Maintain a sterile surgical environment, including proper instrument sterilization and infection control protocols. Take digital radiographs and intraoral photographs as needed. Accurately chart periodontal conditions and treatment information. Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients with professionalism and compassion. Monitor and support patients during procedures to ensure comfort and safety. Maintain and order surgical and clinical supplies. Qualifications Previous experience as a dental or surgical assistant (periodontal or oral surgery experience preferred). Current Dental Assisting certification required. Current BLS certification. Knowledge of infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting. Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to practice protocols.
