Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental examinations and assessments tailored specifically for pediatric patients, utilizing appropriate medical and dental terminology. Diagnose and develop treatment plans for various pediatric dental conditions, including dental caries, malocclusions, and oral infections. Conduct a wide range of procedures such as dental restorations, extractions, pulp therapy, space maintainers, and dental implants when necessary. Utilize advanced dental technology and imaging techniques to ensure precise diagnosis and effective treatment outcomes. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and comply with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations. Communicate effectively with young patients and their guardians, explaining procedures clearly while fostering trust and cooperation. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records, ensuring compliance with medical documentation standards. Collaborate with the dental team to provide education on oral hygiene practices specific to pediatric needs and promote preventive care strategies. Ensure all clinical activities adhere to healthcare diagnosis protocols and professional standards of practice. Qualifications Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution with valid licensure in the state of practice. Certification or specialization in Pediatric Dentistry is required; additional training in anesthesiology or sedation techniques is preferred. Proven experience working within a pediatric dental clinic or general dentistry environment with children. Proficiency with dental software such as Softdent for managing electronic health records efficiently. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy relevant to oral health, and infection control procedures. Familiarity with dental fabrication processes including crowns or space maintainers when applicable. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly to young patients and their families. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations along with state healthcare policies governing pediatric dentistry practice.
