Job Summary Looking for a dental assisting position that is a little different from the traditional dental office? Let’s Smile, Inc. is a nonprofit dental organization providing dental care and oral health education to children and teens in our Owatonna clinic and through school-based and community outreach programs throughout southern Minnesota. We are seeking a Minnesota Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) who enjoys working with children and teens, appreciates variety, is dependable and organized, and is comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative dental team. This is a unique opportunity for an LDA who wants to use their skills in a position that combines clinical dental assisting, school-based care, collaborative practice, community outreach, and opportunities for additional responsibility and leadership. Compensation and Schedule $33.00 per hour Average 25 hours per week Typically 3 days per week Work schedule varies based on school-based clinic schedules and patient care needs Paid work-related travel time for school-based clinic assignments Occasional additional hours may be available for volunteer dentist clinics, community events, seasonal outreach, and clinical needs Availability for scheduled Friday volunteer dentist clinics is required Benefits 50 hours of paid vacation annually 48 hours of paid Earned Sick and Safe Time annually Paid holidays Required continuing education for license renewal Reimbursement for approved dental assisting license renewal fees and required collaborative practice credentials Key Responsibilities Provide chairside assistance during restorative and preventive dental procedures Prepare treatment areas, instruments, materials, and equipment Take and process digital radiographs in accordance with Minnesota requirements Follow infection prevention, sterilization, PPE, OSHA, and safety protocols Provide compassionate, supportive care to children and teens, including patients who may have dental anxiety, limited previous dental care, or barriers to accessing care Assist with school-based dental clinics, including setup, breakdown, equipment, supplies, and patient flow Travel to participating schools throughout southern Minnesota Provide authorized preventive services in school-based and community settings under collaborative practice, once required agreements, training, and protocols are completed Assist volunteer dentists during scheduled restorative clinics Help maintain accurate clinical documentation and records Support OSHA and infection-control compliance responsibilities with appropriate training and support Serve as Radiation Safety Officer after appropriate appointment and training Monitor dental and PPE inventory, coordinate ordering, track backorders, and maintain vendor information Help monitor emergency kits, equipment, service needs, compliance deadlines, and other recurring clinical responsibilities Qualifications Current Minnesota Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) license in good standing Current CPR certification and required emergency training Strong chairside assisting and clinical skills Comfortable working with children and teens Able to work independently and collaboratively Dependable, organized, adaptable, and able to manage changing schedules and priorities Willing and able to travel to school-based clinic locations Available for scheduled Friday volunteer dentist clinics Eligible and willing to enter into the collaborative practice agreement required for the position Why Let’s Smile?
