Part-Time Orthodontic Assistant Wanted Dr. E Orthodontics is a new and growing orthodontic practice seeking a friendly, organized, and motivated Part-Time Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and is committed to making every patient feel welcomed, cared for, and valued from the moment they walk through our doors. We are seeking a long-term team member who is interested in growing with our practice. This is not a temporary or summer position. Tentative Schedule: Mondays: 12 PMâ8 PM Thursdays: 12 PMâ8 PM Some Saturdays: 9 AMâ2 PM Responsibilities: The Orthodontic Assistant will work closely with the orthodontist and team to provide excellent patient care and support the day-to-day operations of the practice. Responsibilities include: Welcome and assist patients throughout their orthodontic visits while providing a friendly and positive experience Prepare treatment rooms and ensure instruments and materials are ready for each patient Assist the orthodontist with orthodontic procedures and patient care Take and document patient records, including photographs, X-rays, scans, and other diagnostic records as permitted by NYS regulations Assist with bonding, debonding, adjustments, wire changes, elastics, separators, and other routine orthodontic procedures as directed by the orthodontist Place and remove orthodontic appliances and assist with aligner appointments as directed by the orthodontist and within the scope of practice Provide patients with instructions regarding oral hygiene, elastics, appliances, retainers, and post-treatment care Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, and maintaining good oral hygiene during orthodontic treatment Monitor patient comfort and communicate any concerns to the orthodontist Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical notes and patient records Take impressions or digital scans when needed Assist with sterilization, instrument processing, and maintaining proper infection-control procedures Clean and disinfect treatment areas between patients and maintain a neat, organized clinical environment Maintain and restock clinical supplies and notify the team when supplies are running low Help with patient flow and ensure appointments stay on schedule Assist with new-patient appointments and treatment consultations as needed Help answer patient questions and provide a welcoming experience for children, teens, and adults Communicate effectively with parents and patients regarding appointments, instructions, and treatment-related questions Assist with taking progress photos and documenting treatment milestones Work collaboratively with the orthodontist and entire team to ensure efficient daily operations Follow all OSHA, infection-control, HIPAA, and office safety protocols Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude Help create a fun, encouraging, and welcoming environment for our patients and families Perform other clinical and office-support duties as needed Ideal Candidate: Speaks English and Spanish Holds a valid RDA in NYS Has experience working in an orthodontic office Comfortable assisting with orthodontic procedures and patient care Team-oriented with excellent communication skills Positive attitude and great with patients Reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented Comfortable working with children, teenagers, and adults Willing to learn and take on additional responsibilities as the practice grows Takes pride in providing high-quality patient care and maintaining a clean, organized office Growth Opportunity: This is a great opportunity to grow with a new practice from the beginning.
