About Our Practice We are a new, growing dental practice in Smyrna, TN, focused on providing exceptional dental care in a friendly, welcoming, and patient-centered environment. As a start-up practice, we're looking for a dental assistant who is excited to be part of building a practice from the ground up. About the Position We are seeking a Part-Time Dental Assistant to work alongside the dentist and help provide an excellent experience for our patients. Experienced dental assistants are welcome, but newly graduated dental assistants and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. We are more interested in finding someone who is dependable, caring, motivated, and eager to learn than simply looking for a certain number of years of experience. The right person will be comfortable working in a small, growing practice and willing to contribute to both patient care and the day-to-day operations of the office. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatment Prepare treatment rooms and instruments Take dental X-rays as permitted by Tennessee regulations and your qualifications Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient care efficiency Measure vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse to monitor patient health status before procedures Support patient management by explaining treatment plans, answering questions about medical terminology, and ensuring a positive experience from check-in to check-out Assist with dental impressions, digital scanning, and other procedures as needed Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain a clean clinical environment Follow OSHA, infection control, and sterilization protocols Set up and break down operatories between patients Maintain accurate and timely patient records Assist with patient communication and provide a welcoming experience Provide post-treatment instructions as directed by the dentist Monitor and help maintain clinical supply inventory Help maintain an efficient patient flow Work collaboratively with the dentist and office team Assist with other clinical and office responsibilities as needed Qualifications Dental assisting education or training preferred New graduates are encouraged to apply Previous dental assisting experience is a plus, but not required Any required Tennessee dental assisting credentials/certifications must be obtained or maintained as applicable to the position CPR/BLS certification preferred Basic understanding of dental terminology and procedures Strong communication and interpersonal skills Dependable, punctual, and organized Positive attitude and willingness to learn Comfortable receiving direction and feedback Ability to work well independently and as part of a small team Professional, friendly, and compassionate approach to patient care What Weâre Looking For Most importantly, we're looking for the right personânot just a resume .
