Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside support and instrument handling
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and HIPAA confidentiality policies
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation
- Provide exceptional patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology, and addressing patient questions or concerns
- Support dental sterilization procedures and infection control practices in compliance with healthcare infection prevention standards
- Coordinate appointment scheduling, patient management software updates, and reception duties as a dental receptionist to ensure smooth clinic operations
Qualifications
- 1 year minimum Dental experience required
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, equipment operation, and clinical procedures including X-ray techniques and oral surgery assistance
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control expertise
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies
- Excellent communication skills for explaining treatments using medical terminology and providing compassionate patient care
- Certification or training in dental assisting, radiography (X-ray), or related fields is preferred; ongoing professional development is encouraged
