Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Phoenix, AZ

Dental Hygiene Coordinator We are looking for an organized, outgoing, and dependable Dental Hygiene Coordinator to join our team. This position plays an important role in keeping our hygiene department organized, productive, and running smoothly while helping patients stay on track with their recommended preventive and periodontal care. The ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with patients, discussing treatment and estimated costs, managing a busy schedule, and proactively reaching out to patients who are due or overdue for hygiene care. Responsibilities Prepare and review patient estimates prior to upcoming hygiene appointments, including: Routine prophylaxis (cleanings) Periodontal maintenance Scaling and root planing (SRP) Other hygiene-related treatment as diagnosed Review insurance benefits and estimated patient portions to help patients understand their expected financial responsibility Call and confirm upcoming hygiene appointments Follow up with patients who have not confirmed their appointments Maintain and work the hygiene recall/reactivation system Proactively contact patients who are due or overdue for routine cleanings or periodontal maintenance and assist them with scheduling Identify patients who leave without scheduling their next recommended hygiene visit and follow up accordingly Help maintain a full and productive hygiene schedule by filling cancellations and open appointments Educate patients on the importance of routine preventive care, periodontal maintenance, and following their recommended hygiene intervals Explain the difference between routine cleanings, periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing when appropriate Communicate effectively with hygienists, doctors, and the front office regarding patient needs and scheduling Document patient communication and follow-up appropriately in the patient chart Provide a friendly, professional, and positive patient experience What We're Looking For Strong communication and customer service skills Comfortable speaking with patients both in person and over the phone Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and follow-ups Proactive â someone who looks for opportunities to fill the schedule rather than waiting for the phone to ring Comfortable discussing treatment costs and patient estimates Confident educating patients and helping them understand the importance of recommended care Strong attention to detail Dependable and punctual Able to work effectively in a fast-paced dental office Team-oriented with a positive and professional attitude Previous dental front-office or hygiene coordination experience preferred Knowledge of dental terminology, insurance benefits, periodontal treatment, and dental scheduling preferred What Success Looks Like in This Role A successful Hygiene Coordinator keeps the hygiene schedule full, ensures patients understand what to expect at their appointments, minimizes unconfirmed appointments and last-minute openings, and consistently follows up with patients who are due or overdue for care. Most importantly, this person should be comfortable building relationships with patients and educating them on why maintaining their hygiene schedule is an important part of their overall oral health.
