Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Surprise, AZ

Be honest with yourself for a second: is it the job you're tired of, or the office? Most experienced assistants we talk to still like the actual work. The setup, the rhythm with a good doctor, the moment a nervous patient relaxes because you explained what was about to happen. That part doesn't get old. What gets old is everything around it. A schedule that has you forty minutes behind by 10 a.m. and never catches up. Turning over a room in four minutes because the next patient is already sitting in the hallway. Outdated sensors, paper charts, or software that freezes mid-procedure. Being blamed for the delay you warned everyone about at huddle. Asking about training but never receiving opportunities for advancement. And sometimes the hardest part: the person making decisions about your day has never once stood in your operatory. If you're a great assistant stuck in the wrong office, we'd genuinely like to talk with you. Here's what the right office looks like. We're Breez Dental in Surprise, and here's specifically what we think makes this worth your time: We're owned by a dentist who still practices here. Breez Dental is privately owned by Dr. Whitney Sebree, who still actively treats patients in our office. That matters more than it sounds. The person who decides how long procedures get blocked, what equipment we buy, and how the day should run works in the same operatories you do. When something isn't working, it gets heard by someone who can actually fix it. Our practice is built on quality over quantity. We don't stack columns to squeeze in one more patient. The schedule is built so procedures get the time they actually take. That gives you time to set up properly, do it right, and turn the room over without sprinting. We're a fully digital office. 3D cone beam CT, iTero intraoral scanner, intraoral cameras, Open Dental, and Dexis. No film. No paper charts. If there's something you haven't used yet, we'll train you on it. You'd assist on the whole range of dentistry, not just the easy half. We keep as much as possible in-house: implants, extractions, root canals (molars included), crowns and bridges, veneers, clear aligners, dentures and partials, TMJ treatment, sedation dentistry, and emergencies. If your current office refers out everything interesting, you'll feel the difference in your first week. We invest in your growth, for real. Want to take a CE course, earn another certification, or grow into a different role in the practice? We encourage it, and we'll usually pay for it. There are real paths forward here, and we'd rather help you build a career than watch you outgrow us. Our patients are glad to be here. Please look us up before you apply. We have over 700 Google reviews at a 4.9 average, and we've been named 2022 Best of West Valley, a 2023 Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave, and a Yelp "People Love Us" winner in both 2024 and 2025. For you, that means a chair full of people who trust us, not people who walked in expecting a fight. Let's talk about money honestly, because this is the part we're proudest of. $22 - $27/hour depending on experience, plus a monthly performance bonus worth up to another $2/hour on top of your base rate once you're up to speed. That's an effective $24 - $29/hour, and it's a bigger bonus than most dental offices offer. Here's the part that matters more than the number: our bonus is designed to be earned. We don't set goals that look good on paper and never get hit. The goals are tied to how the practice is doing, and if our team isn't hitting them, the practice isn't doing well either, so we have every reason to set them where a good assistant reaches them. If you're doing your job well, you should expect to see that bonus. Our team consistently earns the bonus 10 times out of 12 months. You'd also get full benefits: medical, dental, vision, PTO and paid holidays, 401(k) with matching, parental leave, and an employee discount. Your schedule is predictable. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a real one-hour lunch. No nights. No weekends. Fridays are coming, and we explain that below. And this is a brand-new seat. Nobody quit this chair. We're 13 people today and expect to pass fifteen within the year. We're adding an assistant because we're growing, not because someone left. A few things we'd rather be upfront about. We're flexible about a lot of things. Standards are the one place we're not, and we'd rather you know that going in. Attitude is part of the job here, every single day. A positive, professional attitude isn't a nice-to-have at Breez. It's a core requirement of this role, the same as your RHS certification. We all have hard days and real lives outside this office, and we'll support you through them. What we ask is that it never lands on our patients or your teammates. We have zero tolerance for disrespectful communication, undermining teammates or leadership, refusing reasonable direction, or a bad attitude, especially when it affects a patient's experience. Patients notice everything, and so does the team. If that standard sounds strict, this isn't the right office for you. If it sounds like a relief, that's exactly why good assistants like working here. Everyone starts with structured onboarding: our systems, our technology, how each doctor likes to work, and how we want patients cared for. That includes experienced assistants, because every office does things a little differently and we want you set up to succeed, not left guessing. Wherever you have gaps, we'll mentor and coach you through them, and asking questions is expected here, not held against you. We're not looking for someone who already knows everything. We're looking for someone who wants to be challenged and keeps getting better. Your bonus is tied to clear goals for your role and the practice. We share them with you up front, track them together, and go through them with you regularly, so nothing about your bonus is a surprise. Your first ninety days are measured on training milestones instead, so you have room to settle in. If being measured at all makes you uneasy, this probably isn't the right seat. If you like seeing your work pay off in a number you can count on, we think you'll enjoy it here. One important note about Fridays: we don't see patients on Fridays right now, but we plan to add Friday clinical hours, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, most likely early in 2027. You'd need to be available to work Fridays once that starts. If you need Fridays off permanently, this isn't the right fit, and we'd rather say so now than have you find out after you've started. Our team runs on four core values: being a team player, treating patients like family, leading with integrity, and doing the right thing for the patient, every time. People tend to thrive here when they're: dependable, so when you say a room is ready, it's ready. Honest, including about their own mistakes. Genuinely warm with patients for a whole day, not just the first two hours. The kind of person who helps turn over a room or run sterilization without being asked when their own chair is done. Curious, and actually excited to learn a procedure they haven't done before. And in fairness, this might not be the right fit if: you'd rather do the same few procedures every day and nothing new; you'd rather be told what to do than look for what needs doing; you'd rather hide a mistake than fix it; or drama tends to follow you. None of those are character flaws. They're just a mismatch with this particular office, and we'd rather help you find the right one than have you spend six months in the wrong one. What you'd actually be doing Welcoming patients, seating them, and making sure they're comfortable before, during, and after treatment Preparing operatories: selecting and setting up instruments, equipment, and materials for each procedure Assisting the doctor across general, restorative, cosmetic, surgical, and endodontic procedures Taking radiographs, CBCT scans, and digital impressions Using the intraoral camera to help patients see and understand their treatment Giving clear oral hygiene and post-operative instructions Coordinating with outside labs so cases go out and come back on time Handling sterilization and operatory turnover, and keeping rooms clean and stocked Keeping patient records accurate and complete Supporting our Lead Dental Assistant and the rest of the clinical team wherever needed What we're hoping to find At least 3 years of chairside dental assisting experience (required) DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) certification (required) Availability to work Fridays once Friday clinical hours begin (required) A positive, professional attitude every single day (required) Comfortable with computers and dental software; Open Dental and Dexis experience is a plus CBCT (cone beam) experience is a plus Intraoral scanning experience is a plus Cosmetic dental assisting experience is a plus Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; several of our patients speak Spanish Excellent communication skills and a warm, calm chairside manner Organized, reliable, and on time A self-starter with a growth mindset who wants to keep learning If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
