Dental Assistant - Citrus Oral & Facial Surgery - Ocala, FL

Job Summary Citrus Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking a motivated, dependable, and compassionate Traveling Surgical Dental Assistant to join our growing team. This position provides clinical support in both our Crystal River and Ocala offices, offering the opportunity to work alongside an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgery team in a fast-paced surgical environment. The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys variety, provides exceptional patient care, and is willing to travel between both office locations as needed. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and surgical excellence. Responsibilities Travel between our Crystal River and Ocala offices based on the clinical schedule. Assist the oral surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures, including: Wisdom tooth extractions Dental implant placement Bone grafting Full-mouth extractions Biopsies and other oral surgical procedures Prepare treatment rooms and surgical instruments before procedures. Maintain a sterile surgical environment by following OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines. Monitor and support patients before, during, and after surgery. Take digital radiographs and CBCT scans as needed. Accurately document patient information using our electronic dental records system. Prepare and sterilize instruments and surgical equipment. Stock operatories and maintain clinical inventory. Educate patients on post-operative instructions and home care. Assist with IV sedation setup and monitoring (training provided if applicable). Support the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow and an exceptional patient experience. Qualifications Previous experience as a Surgical Dental Assistant preferred. Oral surgery experience is highly preferred but not required. Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification is a plus. Current CPR/BLS certification. Radiology certification required. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between Crystal River and Ocala offices. Positive attitude with a commitment to teamwork and patient-centered care.
