Do You Know Dentistry From Both Sides of the Practice? Some dental professionals are exceptional chairside. Others understand the business and administrative side of dentistry. We're looking for someone who can confidently do both. Dental Wellness Centers of Georgia is seeking an experienced, fully cross-trained Dental Assistant & Patient Coordinator who can transition between clinical patient care and administrative responsibilities based on the needs and schedule of the practice. During patient-care hours, you will work as an experienced Dental Assistant—supporting the doctor, preparing operatories, assisting with procedures, taking radiographs, maintaining clinical flow, and helping create an exceptional patient experience. During designated administrative and non-patient-care hours, you will transition to administrative support—answering phones and emails, scheduling patients, working insurance and billing, collecting balances, following up on unscheduled treatment, and helping ensure the business side of the practice runs just as effectively as the clinical side. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced dental professional who understands the entire patient journey—from the first phone call and scheduling an appointment to chairside care, treatment completion, insurance processing, and collecting the patient's financial responsibility. If you enjoy variety, understand dentistry from both sides of the practice, and take pride in being the person your team can depend on wherever you're needed, this may be an excellent fit. Your Role on Patient-Care Days When patients are being treated, your primary responsibility will be providing excellent clinical support as a Dental Assistant. Responsibilities include: Prepare operatories, instruments, materials, and procedure trays accurately and efficiently. Review the schedule, patient histories, treatment plans, radiographs, and relevant chart information before appointments. Greet, seat, and prepare patients for treatment. Assist the dentist chairside during general dentistry procedures using effective four-handed dentistry techniques. Anticipate the provider's needs and maintain an efficient clinical workflow. Take diagnostic-quality dental radiographs. Accurately document clinical information in the patient's electronic record. Provide appropriate preoperative and postoperative instructions. Perform expanded-duty functions consistent with training, certification, and applicable Georgia requirements. Clean, disinfect, and turn over operatories between patients. Process and sterilize instruments and maintain appropriate infection-control documentation. Maintain organized, properly stocked operatories. Help patients feel comfortable, informed, respected, and genuinely cared for throughout their visit. Depending upon experience and training, clinical responsibilities may also include digital scanning, impressions, temporary crown fabrication, sealants, retraction cord, models, whitening trays, and other expanded-duty functions. Your Role During Administrative Hours During designated administrative and non-patient-care time, you will shift your focus to helping keep the practice organized, productive, and connected with our patients. Responsibilities include: Answer incoming telephone calls and respond professionally to patient inquiries. Monitor and respond appropriately to practice emails and patient communications. Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments. Help maintain a productive schedule by identifying openings and proactively contacting patients. Follow up with patients who have unscheduled treatment plans and help them move forward with recommended care. Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits. Understand and communicate deductibles, limitations, frequencies, estimated insurance benefits, and patient financial responsibility. Prepare, submit, track, and follow up on dental insurance claims. Assist with billing and account management. Collect and accurately post patient payments. Follow up on outstanding patient balances according to practice policies. Communicate professionally with patients regarding treatment costs and financial responsibilities. Maintain accurate patient demographics, insurance information, appointments, and account documentation. Assist new patients with registration and preparation for their first visit. Support other administrative responsibilities necessary to maintain an organized and effective dental practice. Why Cross-Training Matters to Us We believe some of the strongest dental professionals understand that clinical care and administrative excellence are not separate patient experiences—they are two parts of the same experience. Your clinical knowledge makes you better equipped to discuss treatment with a patient on the telephone. Your understanding of insurance and financial arrangements helps you recognize what a patient may need before leaving the operatory. Your knowledge of scheduling helps you understand how clinical efficiency affects the entire practice. And because you understand both sides, you can communicate effectively with doctors, clinical team members, administrative team members, insurance representatives, and—most importantly—our patients. For the right person, this position provides an opportunity to become an exceptionally valuable and versatile member of our team. Who We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is: Truly cross-trained — you are comfortable working both chairside and administratively. Dependable and accountable — your team knows they can count on you to show up prepared and follow through. Clinically competent — you understand dental procedures and can confidently support a provider. Administratively capable — you understand scheduling, insurance, billing, claims, patient balances, and treatment follow-up. Friendly and patient-focused — whether you're holding suction or answering the telephone, patients receive the same warm, professional experience. Organized — you can transition between different responsibilities without losing track of important details. Proactive — you notice what needs attention and take appropriate action. Adaptable — changing from clinical responsibilities to administrative responsibilities is something you enjoy rather than something that frustrates you. Detail-oriented — accuracy matters to you, whether you're documenting treatment, taking a radiograph, verifying insurance, or posting a payment. Professional — you communicate effectively and maintain composure in a busy environment. Team-oriented — you don't view responsibilities as "front versus back." You understand that everyone is working toward the same goal. Growth-minded — you want to continue developing professionally and expanding your value to the organization.
