Job Description: Pediatric Dental Assistant Our established multispecialty pediatric, general, and orthodontic practice in Brooklyn Heights (11201) is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and experienced Pediatric Dental Assistant to support our pediatric dentistry department. Our office is highly accessible and just a short walk from the R, 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C trains. We are a fast-paced office where teamwork and patient care are priorities. The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, and skilled at helping children feel comfortable while collaborating with colleagues across all departments. Schedule & Hours Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (with occasional Mondays) Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Break: 1-hour lunch break Key Responsibilities · Chairside Assistance: Assist the Pediatric Dentist during examinations, preventive care, and restorative procedures for children, within the scope permitted by applicable law. · Impressions & Lab Cases: Assist with digital and traditional impressions when needed, and accurately organize and track pediatric dentallab cases. · Child & Family Support: Help children feel comfortable during visits, use age-appropriate communication, and reinforce dentist-provided oral hygiene and post-treatment instructions with parents and caregivers. · Team Collaboration: Coordinate with the pediatric team to support efficient patient flow and assist the general and orthodontic departments as needed, within your training and permitted scope. · Inventory & Supplies: Help maintain dental supply inventory, prepare pediatric instruments and materials, and report equipment or supply needs. Opening & Closing Duties: Take full responsibility for opening and closing procedures. This includes turning on computers and clinical equipment in the morning, taking out the trash at the end of the day, and setting up treatment rooms, so they are ready for the next morning. Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, CDC, and infection control protocols; maintain clean, stocked, and sterilized operatories. Requirements & Qualifications Must be a strong, reliable team player with an excellent work ethic. · Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a strong background in Pediatric Dentistry . · Strong organizational skills to prepare treatment rooms, support patient flow, and track dental lab cases. · Patience, compassion, and strong communication skills when working with children and their parents or caregivers. · Experience with Orthodontic (Ortho) dentistry is a plus but not required! Proficiency in Dentrix software. High reliability and punctuality to manage the opening and closing schedules.
