Dental Assistant – General Dentistry, Hygiene, Orthodontics & Surgical Prosthodontics About the Position Our office is seeking an experienced, responsible, and reliable Dental Assistant to join our Brooklyn team. This role supports our general dentist, hygienists in a double-hygiene schedule, orthodontist providing braces and clear aligner treatment, and surgical prosthodontist. We are looking for a team player who takes initiative, communicates clearly, and helps keep the day running smoothly. Experience with Dentrix Ascend is required. Responsibilities Provide chairside assistance during general dentistry procedures. Support two hygienists with room preparation, turnover, charting assistance, and patient flow. Assist the orthodontist during appointments involving brackets, braces, and clear aligners. Ability to scan, change wires, bond attachments, and handling of orthodontic adjustments is a huge plus. Assist the surgical prosthodontist with surgical, implant, endodontics, surgical extractions, restorative procedures, including preparing instruments, materials, and treatment rooms. Maintain sterile technique and follow appropriate surgical infection-control protocols. Obtain intraoral scans, clinical photographs, and dental radiographs as permitted by applicable requirements. Prepare instruments, materials, and operatories for scheduled procedures. Sterilize instruments and maintain infection-control standards. Navigate patient charts, upload records, and assist with clinical documentation in Dentrix Ascend. Monitor supplies and keep treatment areas clean, stocked, and organized. Help patients feel comfortable and reinforce provider-directed preoperative and postoperative instructions. Communicate with the clinical and front desk teams to maintain an efficient schedule. Qualifications Previous dental assisting experience required, including chairside assistance in general dentistry. Hands-on experience with Dentrix Ascend required . Orthodontic assisting experience with braces and clear aligners strongly preferred . Experience assisting with oral surgery, dental implants, or prosthodontic procedures strongly preferred . Experience supporting a double-hygiene schedule preferred. Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize during a busy clinical day. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility. A positive, professional attitude and willingness to help teammates. Availability Tuesday–Friday and two Saturdays per month. Applicable credentials for assigned clinical duties.
