We’re looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Pediatric & Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team in Pottstown! Duties & Responsibilities Pediatric Dental Assisting Assist pediatric dentists during routine exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, sealants, and other dental procedures. Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques. Help children feel comfortable and at ease throughout their appointments. Take dental X-rays, including bitewing, periapical, and panoramic images as needed. Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and behavior management. Educate children and parents on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care. Prepare and break down treatment rooms between patients. Orthodontic Assisting Assist orthodontists during consultations, adjustments, and orthodontic procedures. Assist with placing and removing orthodontic appliances, brackets, wires, and other materials as directed by the orthodontist. Take orthodontic records, including X-rays, photographs, impressions, and digital scans. Operate 3D intraoral scanners for orthodontic impressions and treatment planning. Assist with orthodontic appliance delivery and patient instructions. Educate patients and parents on orthodontic care, oral hygiene, and appliance maintenance. Ensure orthodontic instruments, materials, and supplies are properly prepared for each appointment. General Responsibilities Follow proper sterilization, infection control, and OSHA protocols. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with instrument sterilization, operatory setup, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. Help maintain a smooth patient flow throughout the day. Communicate effectively with doctors, team members, patients, and families. Provide a positive, friendly, and welcoming experience for every patient. Support team members wherever needed to keep the office running efficiently. Requirements & Qualifications Active dental X-ray certification (required). Previous dental assisting experience preferred. Experience in pediatric dentistry and/or orthodontics is a plus. Comfortable working with children of all ages, including patients who may be nervous or anxious. Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures. Experience taking dental X-rays, impressions, and digital scans preferred. Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar systems is a plus. Understanding of sterilization procedures and infection control standards. Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced dental office. Dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
